Hello! I’m so glad you’re here.
I’m Jes (she/they), and I’m a somatic practitioner who joyfully works at the crossroads of body liberation, embodiment, and traumatology. I often do this work as a writer, speaker, facilitator, embodiment coach, folk magic practitioner, and lifelong student.
The wealth of knowledge that I’ve learned over the years comes from visionary teachers + mentors alike (currently resonating with and learning from Sonya Renee Taylor, adrienne maree brown, Marika Heinrichs, Jules Pashall, and Prentis Hempill, amongst others), AND there is also so much I DON’T know.
That last part really excites me.
I am the great-grandchild of Irish, Scottish, and Norweigan settlers to the part of Turtle Island colonially known as the United States.
A lot of my work includes exploring and unlearning colonial ideals, healing the wounds created by these systems, and offering ways to reconnect with ourselves, others, and the larger ecosystem we live in so we can rediscover our inherent belonging and interconnectedness.
Below you’ll find a few things that guide my work.
I BELIEVE THAT:
We are all cosmic beings having a human experience.
There is a future (that others have been envisioning and working on for a very long time) that needs to be imagined, and that imagined future can be held as truth while we create it.
Love is a regenerative force strong enough to help make this creation of a different future possible.
Joy, pleasure, ease, and rest are powerful, and the more we become intimately acquainted with them, the more capacity we have to hold and work with grief, pain, oppression, and trauma.
Community, collaboration, reciprocity, accountability, and holding each other with compassion are key.
Aligning with our divinity is also a source of regenerative strength; every person has access to this within themselves.
